Overview

A Dark Story

In The Occultist, Alan Rebels travels to the cursed island of Godstone to investigate the sudden disappearance of his father. After decades of mentioning the island, all Alan knows is that his father was born and lived his early years there.

What did I do?

Alongside the multi-awarded Spanish studio that Pentakill is, I was responsible of the audio direction and sound lead for this project: designing, engineering and implementing realism and a cutting edge tech, in order to craft an over the top sonic experience integrating FMOD into Unreal Engine and collaborating with the world class voice actor Doug Cockle, known for giving life to The Witcher, and the legendary spanish music composer Pepe Herrero.

The Anatomy of Fear

To heighten dread, every "danger" notification is anchored by organic foley, making the HUD feel as vulnerable as the player. The UI alerts aren't synthesized—they’re a layered blend of ethereal textures and processed recordings of real heartbeats and flesh.
